What to shop at ALDI
- Medium brown onions2-3
- Parmesan cheese250g
- Olive oil1-2 tbsp
- Salt½ tsp (or to taste)
- Garlic powder½ tsp
- Smoked paprika½ tsp (optional)
- Black pepper¼ tsp (or to taste)
Method ⏲️
Thin, golden, and ridiculously moreish. Parmesan takes these crispy onion rounds to the next level.
Step 1: Heat Things Up
Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a large baking sheet with baking paper.
Step 2: Build the Base
Evenly spread the grated parmesan in a thin, continuous layer across the baking paper to form a crisp shell.
Step 3: Layer the Onions
Slice onions into very thin rounds (about 3 mm–6 mm thick) using a sharp knife or mandolin. Place onion slices in a single layer over the parmesan sheet, keeping slices from overlapping.
Step 4: Season like a Pro
Lightly brush or drizzle the onions with olive oil. Sprinkle salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper over the top.
Step 5: Bake to Golden Perfection
Bake for 18–22 minutes, watching closely toward the end, until the cheese is bubbling and edges are golden brown.
Step 6: Cool & Crisp
Remove from oven and let cool on the sheet for 5–10 minutes to crisp further.
Step 7: Break & Serve
Break apart into chip-sized pieces. Serve immediately with dips like ranch or yogurt-based sauces.
