Method ⏲️
A cheesy tuna pasta bake with a creamy sauce and a golden top.
Step 1: Prep & preheat
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Cook 350 g penne pasta in salted boiling water for 1 minute less than the packet says, then drain your pasta and set it aside.
Step 2: Make your sauce
Melt 40 g butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook 1 finely diced onion for 4-5 minutes until soft, then stir in 40 g plain flour and cook for 1 minute.
Step 3: Stir it through
Gradually whisk in 600 ml milk until your sauce is smooth. Stir in 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 150 g cheddar cheese, 320 g tuna and 1 cup corn kernels. Season with salt and black pepper.
Step 4: Bake your pasta
Tip your cooked pasta into a baking dish and pour over your sauce. Mix well, sprinkle over the remaining 50 g cheddar cheese, then bake for 20 minutes until golden and bubbling. Finish with parsley if you like, then grab a spoon and get stuck in.
